Scenes of Rapallo Italy
Rapallo, on the coast of northern Italy between Genoa and Cinque Terre is a popular Italian Riviera seaside resort town. Rapallo has a picturesque castle in the sea, a small harbor and seaside promenade, pedestrian shopping streets in the historical center, and good seafood restaurants.
The first settlement dates probably from the 8th century BC, and was included in the county of Genoa under Charlemagne. During the 16th century it was attacked and sacked by the Ottomans and Barbary pirates. To help defend the village against such attacks a castle was built on the seafront. Photo by James C.
