Civita di Bagnoregio

Civita di Bagnoregio is a unique village perched on a tufa rock and appears to be clinging onto the edge of a cliff. It is known that this little village is built on a hill made of calanchi, subject by nature, weathering down by the force of wind and rain and is gradually eroding its way down into the Valley of the Badlands thus explains why it is called the “dying town”.

Civita is linked to the town of Bagnoregio such the name Civita di Bagnoregio. The bridge connecting the two towns is constructed with cement shaped stone pathway and metal railings enabling access for pedestrians, bicycles, mopeds and 3 wheel vehicles. As of this year of 2015, only a dozen people resides at this town.
