Luxembourg Weekend Excursion

April 22, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

James and I recently did a last minute overnight trip to Luxembourg.  Living in Stuttgart affords us the opportunity to just get in the car and make the drive.  We picked a central location so we could just walk around.  However, keep in mind that parking in the city is limited and very expensive.

Lodging recommendation:  We booked a night at Hotel Simoncini. The hotel is centrally located and easy to walk to all the attractions. The staff were very courteous and friendly. They even checked us in early. Parking is right next to the hotel. The hotel was very clean and allergy free. Bed was firm just the way we like it. Breakfast was very nice with eggs and coffee made to order. Would definitely stay here again.

Luxembourg American Cemetery & MemorialOn the way into the city we stopped to pay our respects at the Luxembourg American Cemetery & Memorial.  Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial located near Luxembourg City, Luxembourg contains the remains of 5,076 American service members, most of which, died during the Battle of the Bulge, fought nearby in winter 1944/1945. Their are 22 occasions where two brothers rest side-by-side in adjacent graves. General George S. Patton Jr’s grave also resides here.
